Nellie Chonez enters the Game Lobby

Scene 2: Getting a Message from a Time Traveler 

Penelope: Welcome to the portal, Mrs. Chonez

Nellie: Hello

Penelope: I am sure you are a bit nervous now. It’s normal. Trust me. I’ve been through it. 

Nellie: You look just like Emma Roberts - oh, my God - I totally grew up with you. 

Penelope: Emma Roberts is my alter ego in the Los Angeles Dystopia - but my real character is this one - I’m the real player - and you’re a real player too, but right now I’m going to make you aware of the role you are playing in the 2026 Los Angeles Dystopia.  

Nellie: What do you mean I’m playing a role?

Penelope: The Portal is the Game Lobby, and this is where time stands still. If you were to stay here for the rest of your life, you would stay the same age. 

Nellie: But that would be really boring. 

Penelope: That’s why we have these settings for you to come in and out of - this is the part where I finally tell you that you’re in a game. 

Nellie: Oh, my…I can’t believe this is happening now. What do you exactly mean I’m in a game? 

Penelope: You’re unconscious in your story in 2026; you’re going to leave here conscious, and move on the the next chapter.

Nellie: The next chapter? 

Penelope: I think you’ll enjoy it.

Nellie: I will. 

Penelope: It’s a little scary, but you will make a meaningful choice that will end the Los Angeles Dystopia. 

Nellie: What will I do? 

Penelope: If I tell you…I’d be doing a disservice to your experience.
